Each deck of playing cards has 4 suits comprised of 13 cards each totaling 52, the same number of weeks in a year. The cycle of 52 weeks was mapped out in ancient times and is also based on the planets ruling certain periods throughout the year.
The Months
There are a total of 12 royal or face cards across the four suits in each deck. There are also 12 months in a year and 12 signs of the Zodiac.
In numerology, the number 7 is considered a spiritual number and is the number of days in a each week.
The Seasons
There are four suits in a deck of cards: hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades. These correspond with areas of our natural world:

The Math
If you add the face numbers of a deck of cards, giving Jacks a value of 11, Queens a 12 and Kings a 13, the sum is 364. The joker in a deck of cards counts as 1¼, ¼ for each suit and ¼ for itself. When you add the value of the joker to the value of the remainder of the deck, you get 365¼ days, the exact number of days in each year. This is why the deck of cards is used to identify birth and secondary cards for each day of the year.
